Audi is the latest automaker to create luxury electric bicycles. The brand has introduced an electric mountain bike that draws inspiration from its RS Q E-tron E2 electric race car participating in the Dakar Rally and promises high-quality specification. It is built by Fantic from Italy (as Autoblog notes, it is based on the XMF 1.7 model) and combines a 250W Brose motor (similar to that used in the Harley-Davidson Serial 1 Bash/Mtn model) with a 720W-h Fantic battery, providing significant torque of 66 pounds per foot.

Although Audi is not reporting a top speed or range at this stage, the power pack is noticeably larger than the Bash/Mtn, which has a 529 Wh battery and provides a range of 30 to 95 miles, depending on conditions. Like other electric bikes powered by a Brose motor, the Audi model has four levels of electric assistance, starting with soft Eco and ending with maximum boost in Boost mode.

The design of the aluminum frame uses completely different details than the range of Porsche electric bicycles, in addition to the motor and battery. You can expect Braking IN.CA.S disc brakes, the Öhlins fork and shock absorber, as well as Sram components for the chain, shifters and gear shifter. You will also find Italian elements such as Vittoria tires and the Sella Italia saddle. Ahead of the XMF 1.7 model, the Öhlins suspension offers a stroke of 7.1 inches.

Audi's electric mountain bike is available in three sizes, but you'll have to act fast and have a large bank balance. The bike is only available as a "limited edition model" priced at £8,499 (about $10,200) in the UK.This roughly corresponds to the price of the Porsche eBike Sport model for $ 10,700
